Back in Central Otago: Why I Love Photographing Families in Cromwell, Queenstown & Wānaka


I’m back in Cromwell after a beautiful, wholesome few weeks with my family in Austria, and I’ve come home feeling completely recharged.

New ideas. New energy. And, thankfully, plenty of beautiful winter light.

I’ve already had my first three photography sessions back in Central Otago, in Cromwell, Queenstown and Wānaka, and honestly? They were amazing.

Beautiful families. Happy kids. Stunning locations. Crisp winter days. Barely a breath of wind. And that incredible Central Otago light that makes me fall in love with photographing here all over again.

This is exactly why I love being a family photographer in Central Otago.

Whether you live here or you’re visiting New Zealand for a few days, there are so many incredible places for a relaxed family photoshoot.

Think golden tussock, mountains, lakes, vineyards, rivers, rocky landscapes and those beautiful wide-open Central Otago skies.

And the best part?

You don’t need to know how to pose.

You don’t need matching outfits or perfectly behaved children. You don’t even need to feel comfortable in front of the camera.

We simply choose a beautiful location, go for a little walk, play, explore, cuddle, laugh and let the moments happen.

I’ll take care of the rest.


Visiting Queenstown, Wānaka or Cromwell?
