Central Otago Autumn — Golden Light Everywhere

Autumn in Central Otago really does something special.
The colours suddenly turn golden, the air gets colder in the mornings, and the light becomes soft and warm. The wind almost disappears and everything feels a bit calmer after the busy summer season. Every year I think “wow, this place is unreal.”
For wedding photography, autumn is honestly my favourite time.
The vineyards glow yellow and orange, the mountains look moody and beautiful, and sunset light here in Central Otago is just magic. Sometimes it almost feels like Europe to me again, especially with all the autumn colours everywhere.
This season I photographed weddings around Queenstown, Wanaka, Cromwell, Clyde, Alexandra and even in Auckland and I absolutely loved it. Every wedding was different. Different weather, different people, different energy. That is what makes wedding photography so exciting for me.
I have now photographed around 20 weddings, and honestly I still get nervous before every single one. But I think that’s good. It means I really care.
I care about the people, the photos, the feeling of the day and all the little moments in between. I still get excited driving to weddings. I still feel nervous before the ceremony starts. I still want every couple to have the best experience possible.
There is always something new to learn in this industry and I love that. No wedding is ever the same.
Being local now in Central Otago also helps so much. I know the little hidden spots, the good light, the weather changes and how fast things can suddenly turn windy or freezing here. I love helping couples feel relaxed and just enjoy their day instead of stressing about photos all the time.
And honestly… autumn just puts on a show here.
